Scholarship Winner
We would like to congratulate Tyrus Jones, winner of the K92/Q99/VIBE100/Star Country/WFIR/Omega Psi Phi
Minority Broadcasting Scholarship.
Tyrus Jones
Tyrus is entering his first year at Lynchburg College, where he is pursuing a Communications major. He is a graduate of Gretna High School. His honors include Pittsylvania County Graduate of Merit Award, Above and Beyond Award for Community Service, Commonwealth Scholar, Honor Graduate, and Senior Honors Award Recipient. Recently he also received the Making the Difference Award from the Regional Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention.
Tyrus volunteers with the Hurt Volunteer Fire Department and has obtained certification as a Junior Firefighter. He also volunteers with Boys & Girls Clubs and received the “Outstanding Volunteer” award from Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services for completing over 500 hours of community service. He has now attained over 800 hours to date.
